Unless planning of the plant as a whole, design of most domestic clean rooms has to compromise with established building environment, especially the planning on auxiliary room and machinery room of clean room, which is “saving as possible”; however, with improving standard for clean room, the area of auxiliary room and machinery room of the clean room may be ≥50% area of main room. Area ratio for installations in clean room of different cleanliness levels is shown in Fig. 3-2. Floor height and spatial height required for clean room of different cleanliness levels is shown in Fig. 3-3. The factors determinant of necessary area for installations in clean room is listed in Table 3-4 below.
Table 3-4 Determinant Factors of Area for Installations in Clean Room
Installation | Key factors determinant of area | Key factors specific to clean room |
▫Main room of clean room | ▫Configuration of machinery required by production plan | ▫No impact on indoor air flow |
▫Auxiliary room of clean room ·Front room to handling in materials
·Test area |
▫Number of users ▫Max. machinery and materials size |
▫Anti-static clothing, separate keeping of common working clothes ▫Retention time considered for cleaning and washing |
▫Management space | ▫Required for common things, technical management and equipment management | ▫Rest room, eating room etc required round-the-clock running |
▫Equipment space | ▫Machinery of cold and warm heat sources | ▫Space required for examination and maintenance |
